The pearl of the adriatic

Dying to visit Dubrovnic, the gorgeous little Croatian town that inspired the setting of Miyazaki Hayao's animated film Kiki's Delivery Service.

I'll have the power to make my evil take its course

I've been looking for this Ann Demeulemeester vest for a while now. They also made it in black but I reckon the white version would look so dramatic in the winter.

To infinity and beyond

FUCK YEAH! I finally got this Nike SB backpack I've wanted for so long (i mentioned it here as well) they were only stocked in like two skateboard shops in tokyo and I'm soo excited. It's a bit big for a little person like me but I'll manage. Can't wait to pair it with dresses and I'm definitely gonna use it for my next backpacking trip abroad. Nike SB made some really great backpacks this season, I liked the elephant leather print ones too.

"Minimalism is laziness"

I think the Hermes x Yohji bag collab is kind of perfect. I'm more of a CdG girl when it comes to clothes but I love Yohji Yamamoto and Y's bags because most of them are really simple and use that thick and smooth kind of leather I find nicest. Classic Hermes' bags are also very simple compared to the it-bags that come and go every season (the Birkin is like my ultimate dream accessory it's so gonna be the first thing I get once I start working). Since both brands focus on utility and quality but differ in aesthetics I really think this is an ideal collaboration.

PS the quote above is something I remember Yohji saying in an interview. I thought it was hilarious and can be so true.

Betty said she prayed today for the sky to blow away

It seems summer's over already. I'm currently in the countryside visiting my grandparents and the breeze here is cool and smells like fall. I'm sitting by the window in my ADD hoodie feeling kind of sad, kind of nice. Perfect time for listening to Nick Drake's River Man.

A hero

I just saw a documentary about the Japanese animation artist and dirctor Hayao Miyazaki. Bits and pieces of it made me cry because I kept realizing how much of a genius he is. I dunno, there's something so beautiful about people who are able to find their true calling and give it their all. An especially memorable part was when he talked about how a little American girl told him that she thought Spirited Away's Chihiro was very cool, and that it was such comments he got from kids that made his work worthwhile in the end.
In between interviews there was a quick filmography and it literally gave me goosebumps to think that all those masterpieces like My Neighbor Totoro, Kiki's Delivery Service, Laputa, Princess Mononoke and Nausicaa came from the mind of this one man alone.

His last movie is out in the theaters right now. It's about a little fish that wants to become a human girl. I'm excited to see it but at the same time I'm sort of devastated that this is the end. I'm really going to miss Mr. Miyazaki's work.

Get down get down

I got a new haircut which looks exactly like Uma's in Pulp Fiction except maybe my bangs are shorter and thicker. I look so trashy it's hilarious. I have this sudden urge to wear Betsey Johnson and L.A.M.B and leopard print and Claire's chokers but I reassure you it's not gonna happen. I've found some relief in these acidwashed AA denimshorts though, they look so cheap and yucky paired with heels, I really love them.

Honey i'm home

The trip was an incredible experience. Haven't managed to sort it all out in my head yet but it was completely worth it, that I know for sure.

Anyway here's Rick Owens peeing into the mouth of Rick Owens from his book L'Ai Je Bien Descendu (named in honor of his favorite Parisian cabaret dancer... so bizarre)
