goodbye tao....come back soon

another thing i'm definitely gonna do this spring is wear tabi socks or tights with sandals

feeling this whole vibe...it's like the perfect mix of western and japanese, interior and everything

vogue japan

but really i think there is no one better to look to for east-west ideas than the french japanese painter fujita (whose photo i posted once before, i think that photo is still my favorite).

in other news i got a skirt from the infamous junya SS2000 collection.

It's sheer pleated brown polyester, slightly shiny (probably the same material used for that neck ruff up there) and the crazy thing is that it's made up of 20 layers, all pleated... so it's really voluminous...it's romantic and futuristic at the same time

here are some photos of retro suburbia that i got from either corbis or gettyimages, a long time ago. i thought tavi would like these

Finally, I just heard today at school that TAO comme des garcons is closing its line. Tao was my second favorite line in the cdg universe, so i am surprised and sad. Tao had its own world...sort of a hybrid of earthy, punk and lolita style....
i'm really going to miss it,,, there are so many shitty brands in the world and I feel like we keep losing the good ones

I still remember Tao's first collection- that sweeter vibe was such a change from what the CdG mainline and Junya did, and I loved it for that.

And the good brands have had plenty of bad times these last few years (Yohji going into bankruptcy, another distressing example- though I'm v. glad his label is still up and running).
