rassera rassera

I finally found out the origin of a film still I'd saved a while back! Metropolis is probably pretty famous, I must live under a rock or something to not have known it, but it's a German sci-fi silent film. From 1927. Omg? Cyberpunk existed in the 20s??? I have to see thisssss

This poster is cool, very Ludwig Mies van der Rohe

Mies van der Rohe's Glass Tower, 1921

I've realized there are so many sci-fi movies that I don't know about... and browsing the web for movie stills, I've come across tons of cool cyberpunk blogs and websites. I love the internet.

>>> On a kind of related theme I'm still loooving Bjork's hair buns. I'm totally doing this in the summer

we have already begun

I went to the hair salon for the first time in aages and got the sides of my head shaved (buzzed?) again, i shaved a lot this time so it looks kind of butch but I love it

Last night I watched Akira and now I can't stop listening to the soundtrack by yamashiro shoji. I'm thinking about getting the cd, i think it's that good. The movie itself isnt really my taste, I'm reading the comic now which is probably only a bit better, although i do love that whole cyberpunk 80s japanese vibe. but the music the music is what it's about ahhh u should listen to this with headphones

there's a comment on youtube below this song that i like, it's a bit pretentious but i agree

"whenever i hear this song i go into a trance and have visions of time travelling and flying, of the end of time and space, of the miracle of life and death. it feels like the lowest depths of the ocean and the outermost layer of the stratosphere are touching and reversible, like you don't know which way is up or down. beach babes

Since 1990 Theo Jansen has been creating new forms of life out of plastic yellow tubes.

"I make skeletons that are able to walk on the wind, so they don’t have to eat. Over time, these skeletons have become increasingly better at surviving the elements such as storms and water and eventually I want to put these animals out in herds on the beaches, so they will live their own lives."

i think i've already mentioned how much i like robots and dinosaurs, these are kind of a mixture of both. just surreal.

perfect one liners

I was looking through my bookshelf today and came across my (mom's) old Aesop's Fables book illustrated by Alexander Calder. I never liked fables but calder's drawings are awesome

Calder worked with all kinds of media but I particularly like his wire sculptures cuz they're basically 3d versions of his drawings. if I had one of these sitting on my desk it would make me so happy!

and his circus series cirque calder is so adorable, i was grinning like an idiot watching these clips of calder performing his circus show. wouldnt a miniature wire circus like this be great for a music video?

he even made jewelry!

***this is a totally random question i've been enjoying thinking about lately: what novel or short story would you choose to adapt to film if you had the opportunity? i decided i would probably choose "Why Don't You Dance?" by raymond carver because the image of a lonely dude sitting in his living room set out on the front lawn cant be anything but fantastic. what would you choose??
