I just finished watching Roman Polanski's 1962 debut film Knife in the Water and...wow. I won't go into the details--I'll just say it's a simple but mesmerizing story in that Polanski manages to capture tension and beauty in seemingly mundane events. Definitely a must watch for anyone who likes beatiful photography, bizarre human relationships and sexy/eerie jazz. and since the entire story is set on a cute little sailboat, it's also pretty great retro-nautical inspiration for the summer. Seriously stylish stuff.
Press play for once!!! It's pretty.

I think there's something romantic about sad, nasty rundown little motels in the middle of nowhere.
I'm fantasizing about long road trips to bumblefuck, cheap American beer, midnight skinnydipping, good mexican food, the sweet hum of cicadas... a much needed vacation away from the hustle and bustle of Tokyo.
Tell me about your ideal vacation.

I am currently enjoying my first truly free weekend since April in bed. I've been playing Mr. Hermano (check out one of their songs on my sidebar it's goood) nonstop and rolling around on my cool white bedsheets thinking about nothing...oh bliss.
On a similar note I recently discovered a series of deer beds photographed by Katherine Wolkoff (via a cup of joe) and they look beautifully cozy. I can't say I'm much of an animal/nature lover but I am strangely moved by these.

It's been a while! I'm sorry I haven't been able to update regularly but I think for another month or so it'll have to be like this.
But hey guess what I got the other day.
Junya Watanabe zipper top and skirt set! I always wanted it, it's super nice. I still haven't been able to find the zipper neckpiece from the same season though...
And also...remember this deconstructed trench skirt Carine wore? I managed to get this too...I guess I really lucked out. It's not quite as short and oolala on me as it is on CR but it works I think. So yay!
